Review:
Leeds based producer Bontan’s star is on the rise, receiving props by figureheads such as Pete Tong, Annie Mac and Carl Cox. The Rewind EP for Kerri Chandler’s original Madtech imprint follows up some great releases on Toolroom, Circus, Suara and Noir. On the title track it’s the kind of funky and rolling tech house that’ll easily rock the main room at peak time: just like a Gruuv or Saved record. The remix by Leeds legend and 20/20 Vision boss Ralph Lawson is just as sleek and as slinky as you’d expect from the man, with some low slung funk and acid snarl to boot. For something a bit darker and druggier, try “33 45″; this one’s sure to make them lost their minds on the dancefloor this season too.
